Does NYU still send likely letters? I've check past threads and they have, but the last I heard of them was from 2010...Just wondering if they still send out "invitations" or something through the mail/email to notify applicants that they have been accepted early

I was just admitted with a full scholarship. Im not sure if thats because it was a scholars decision though

In my year (2010) they sent out a ~wink wink nudge nudge~ letter telling us to make travel plans for accepted students day on March 19th. It wasn’t an outright “you’re in”, but it was very strongly hinted at. Not sure if they still do it though :/

@spuding102 what was the name of your scholarship? and what college did you specifically apply to?

I received a wink-wink-nudge-nudge email from NYU last night about the accepted students day for women in science and engineering…so it seems these are not a thing of the past.

Its called the Smilow scholarship and I applied to CAS

@spuding102 was it a scholarship you specifically applied for or did NYU just give you it for merit? i cant seem to find that scholarship online…how much was it worth?

No I didn’t apply for anything NYU just gave it to me for merit. They didnt say how much it was worth just that “we would like to offer you, as a Smilow Scholar, a scholarship grant award to cover the full cost of your NYU tuition”

wow congrats! that’s around 45 thousand. still can’t find anything about “smilow scholars” but it’s ok. still hoping that I get accepted with some merit/financial aid

nvm just found it,
http://www.nyu.edu/content/dam/nyu/financialAid/documents/navigating-finaid.pdf

looks like I’m out of the running for really good aid :/

hey!~ I got the Smilow Scholarship too! That makes three of us or four LOL

Any idea how many people get full rides to NYU? I was very surprised because NYU is known to be very stingy with their aid

I was very surprised with the scholarship too! I never expected it. But I have no idea how many people get full rides, but not many, I guess.

If you haven’t received a likely letter does that mean you weren’t accepted?

Wondering the same thing ^

The ones that have been sent out sound like they have been for very specific things (merit scholarships and the women in science program), so I doubt they’re finished sending them out yet

if you didn’t receive a likely letter then you definitely still have a chance at NYU. those likely letters are for really qualified applicants, the top 5% more specifically.

“Full Tuition” and “Full Ride” are different. Is NYU covering your tuition AND housing expenses or just tuition?

It is a full tuition scholarship.

I also got the Smilow full tuition scholarship! Are you guys going on the trip for the Smilow Scholars thing in April?
