Likely letters

When do likely letters come out and has anyone gotten one?

Last year the earliest likely letter for the RD round was dated March 3rd, so around early March would be a good bet. But I’m just going to echo the words of thousands of posters and say that the chance of you getting one is very slim so don’t hold your breath. I would say 95% of admitted students don’t get a likey letter.

Has anyone here gotten a likely letter yet??? Especially for SHA??

@proudmama299 it’s too early at the moment

@proudmama299 what sport are you waiting for your likely letter?

What does a likely letter say? My daughter received a letter today basically saying that they are happy she applied, to be patient during the waiting process, that decisions would be posted after 5pm on March (I forgot the date) and if she wanted to add any supplements to her application she could do so. Is that a likely letter? It seemed sort of likely and sort of not.

congrats to your D, letters like this 2 this time is definitely a likely letter

@ this time

can you please post some basic stats for your D?

i got one 1/21, but it is more general (guess sent to everyone):

Dear my name:
Thank you for applying to Cornell University … In the coming weeks, you will be notified if you are missing any required application materials and given instructions for completing your application.
If you have supplemental documents, you can upload them to your application…

No, that’s not a likely letter. Just google and you’ll see a likely would say:

agree

Most likely letters go to athletes, URMs, women in engineering. Don’t worry about it if you don’t get one, most accepted students do not get one. There are some schools, like Hotel, that would send out acceptances before the Ivy decision date because they are not bonded by the Ivy agreement.

Thanks @oldfort

Just actually saw the letter my daughter got today. It was actually from college of HE. Signed by the director. Just a nice formality I think. Can’t read anything into it either way.

Agree with Oldfort: the language of any college’s actual “Likely Letter” is VERY explicit – saying more or less “We have read your application YOU WILL receive an offiical offer of admission on XX date.”

Barring words that communicate that, it is NOT a Likely Letter.
