likely letters

has anyone gotten one yet? how many people get them? like 100 or so?

About 500-600 people are accepted into the Echols and Rodman programs each year, so that's about how many likely letters will go out. Maybe a few more.

wow! thats a lot! if you dont get a likely letter, does that mean you won't get echols/rodman?

Hmmm when do they go out?

Does getting to second round of Jeff Scholars pretty much guarantee acceptance?

i was a jeff scholar nominee and my gc said basically every kid who gets nominated will get in! so, i would say you're in but then again, something crazy could happen in the admissions office! :)

Hahaa okay thanks :P

How far did you get in the process LizziE?

i called the Jefferson Scholars Foundation office to confirm.

if you have made it to the final round for the Selection Weekend in Charlottesville, you have already been accepted to the University.

I asked the woman about it and she said "Well.....yeah. We're not supposed to officially tell you but we make sure every finalist has been accepted to the University before sending out letters. Congratulations."

Hmmm well congrats to final rounders then!

i got to the first round of interviews, but didnt make it past that. i was ok with it though b/c i was kind of prepared for it! haha

Yeah I wasn't even like WHOO UVA beforehand. I was just applying cuz they had Neurosci major... I was like... oh sweet a scholarship? BOOST!

When do likely letters go out?

Don't really know how to do the link for the boards -- but this is last year's thread. Looks like next week.

isn't it a little bit too early? I think a lot of students haven't turned in their mid term grades yet.

I remember last year they sent some in Feb and some in March....I'm just shocked that I got one if this is indeed a likely letter....I submitted my midyear grades in mid-January also

The letters about which you all are speaking will be signed "John A. Blackburn, Dean of Admission". They have not been generated at this time.
