Likely Letters

from what i understand, the majority of kids that will be accepted RD will not receive a likely letter. likely letters are reserved for the "cream of the crop" of the RD pool. so congrats.

Also, shawty, if your friend didn't apply to SEAS, I think the odds of getting one are even slimmer/nonexistent.

She applied to SEAS too, and I was hoping that it didn't mean she wasn't in. Also I don't know how much the interviews count because I received my letter a week after the interview.

I was not interviewed at all, but I got a likely letter.

pleonasm, SEAS or CC?

Does any international student (i mean those who hold visa) receive a likely letter?

I = international

i got 1

tho i live in us

Are you a U.S. citizen? I mean those applicants out of u.s. ?

International = non-US citizen.

Non-US citizens are not evaluated as domestic students in the evaluation process, even though they may be living in America. On the other hand, US citizens living abroad (like me), are still evaluated along with the domestic US citizens, rather than with the non-US citizens.

Has anyone from Columbia College got a likely letter yet?
Or are these all from SEAS so far?

jegan, I was SEAS

ok, thanks.
pharmagal - only one person has gotten a likely letter for CC, and I think he had great SATs and was a double legacy, as well as some other outstanding stuff.

or he could be lying to create such an unnecessary panic you kinda see before you...

Haha, very true.

Thanks, Jegan3.

Yes. Those Stats do look super. He also seems to be a Tri-Citizen who speaks 4 languages........very unique talents there. That may be a reason too. These schools may send out likely letters to applicants residing internationally faster than US folks?

Based on this thread, he is the exception. So, I would conclude that none of the US residing applicants who applied to CC have got any likely letters yet.

oasis

My son is american citizen living outside US. His school told him that he is in the international pool. I am confused.
thanks

I assure you I got a letter and will be at Columbia next year =;)

I also know of althletes that have gotten them form the college although they have to verbally commit sortly afterwards.

Is anybody going to go to the Open House in April?

I don't think all applicants who get in get a likely letter. I may be wrong, but if they send likely letters to all admitted students, what's the point of sending the acceptance letter? When this catches on, people will all know that a likely letter = admit.
