Does anyone know if UNC gives out likely letter?
I got a letter stating:
"I write to thank you for your distinguished application to UNC. Although our admission committee will not complete its work until January (I know. I can't believe they wrote January. The letter is mark Feb. 22 anyways), we have already been impressed by your achievements and your potential. We believe you are an outstanding candidate...blah blah blah...

...we hope that you will keep these opportunities in mind. We also hope that you will accept our invitation to spend a day in the life of a current Carolina student.............blah blah blah...

so, does unc give out likely letter or do they give it to everyone ....

Anyone know if they send those to deferred applicants? I have a friend who was deferred EA. Also, she wants to know if they send them in waves or not?

PS...stats plz, if you don't mind. I'm wondering if they're as high/higher/lower than the EA LL ones. And congrats!

ohhh...you don't want to know my stats...they are not good...at all...i was surprised when I received the letter....i am oos..so i REALLY did not expected one, since they only receive 18% of OOS...who knows what admission people thinks...

sorry, it is what my mom says and i love my mom so she must be right!

older threads from this time last year and the year before are still on here I thinK? they talked a lot about it. all schools do lls now and all do it for the same reason and about the same time of year so no one school has the upper hand.

hey, go to the beginning of the unc section and on the right side it says search this forum, plug in likely letters and tons of threads come up.

No correlation between scholarships and likely letters. I got in EA after receiving the likely letter around Christmas. I have subsequently received 3 more letters with the "we have already been impressed by your achievements ...blah blah blah... and have had not scholarship or honors information.
