Did Cornell send out likely letters already? Or is that coming up soon?

since the decisions come out in two weeks does it matter?

lol I was just wondering...

my d got a likely letter last year very late in March and the wording was so ambiguous that she was annoyed rather than pleased...

I have a friend who is in Cornell class 2011. From the people he has spoken with, very few people who were admitted recieved "likely letters". They also were obtained in late march/early april - most likely to prevent candidates that are most likely to be admitted from accepting positions at other schools prior to hearing from Cornell.

Just passing along what I've been told by my friend. :-P He was admitted late March with no trace of a likely letter.

Likely letters.. HAHAHA

It would totally suck if someone got a likely letter and didn't get accepted...

D:

Yea, and instead of receiving an acceptance, they get a letter saying JK instead.

Many CCers, including my DD, received likely letters from Cornell last year. The text of the letter read as follows: "Your application to Cornell University has been reviewed by the admissions selection committeee, and I am writing to let you know that you are very likely to be admitted to Cornell. Although the Ivy League schools won't officially notify students of their admission decissions until later this month, we wanted to share this good news with you now."

The letters started arriving on 12 March 2007. You can find the thread from last year here.

My son's friend just received a likely letter from Cornell last Saturday (March 8). Well deserved - kid has great stats and ECs.

Last year was a very stressful time in our household. About 3 -5 girls from our high school applied to College of Human Ecology. All had very competitive applications. I know that many of them received letters from ??? alumni/ambassadors. Some also got phone calls asking if they had any questions etc..Of course, our student got none of the above and was quite nervous about the whole deal even though she was one of the strongest applicants. All of the applicants were accepted including our daughter.
