thanks guys!!!!:) you made my day:) yeah we have a very small class. PM me if you want the lengthy explanation. we have ranged from 9 to 13 people.(brother graduated in a class of 2). The letter really was a surprise to me though. I don't have any really big hooks or anything.

hey! the letters are for "owl scholars" or students that are going to get a scholarship from rice! if you don't get one, it doesn't mean that you will not get in...it's just a letter to tell those students that a) they are likely to get in and b) with some mula...

I got one today! (And one for UVA too!) I'm so excited.
If you're an "owl scholar," would it say so in the likely letter?

...um i was pretty surprised to get this letter yesterday, considering i thought my essay was okay, but not great. maybe my location had something to do with it - i live like 30 minutes away from rice - lolll. i have to admit that rice isn't really my top choice, but this letter definitely makes me feel more inclined to go there. yayyyy no need for back-ups anymore relieved sigh
congrats to others!

Congrats !! thanks for your sharing stats; west cost ?

nsrjsyt

Don't freak out if you don't get a likely letter. That's the downside of having a forum like this!!! In the good old days, you would not have known that other people were receiving likely letters, and you would just be hap-hap-happy to get your acceptance in April!

Haha you're so right, I really wish I got
one. Living in new York I wouldve by now right?

All of your stats/test scores are amazing.

I got a likely letter with just a 34 ACT and 2110 SAT

ironmetal, they only look at the highest out of SAT/ACT if you submit both. Your 2110 SAT is good, but your 34 ACT is very good. Definitely not "just" a 34!

ah man, HopeImAccepted, i feel the same exact way. except i'm from new jersey lol. if the likely letters are indicative of who receives the merit aid, i'm kinda disappointed lol. i was really hoping to get in and get some merit aid because i'm probably not gonna get much need based aid if i do get in.

^5.08... i think that is the highest gpa i've ever heard of

What is the relationship beween likely letters and merit aid??

^ MY D has a 5.90 weighted.. it's very commun in Florida.. the valeditorian has an 6.5...!! it's depends of the your state.

Does anyone know if Rice sends all their likely letters out in the same wave or might they be sent in sort of a rolling mail out? S was very disappointed when he heard about the others and he didn't get one. He's not an URM, but he has really great stats IMO, so I think he sort of expected to get accepted and the likely letter thing is worrying him. His app has been at Rice for a long time because he applied for the Baylor-Rice medical program and it had to be there by Dec 1 (I think) for that. Did any of you that got a likely also apply to Baylor-Rice?
