crystal where do you live?

im pretty sure this might have been adressed, but just so I can make sure. Does anyone know if the UVA Outreach Greetings-African Americans email is some sort of likely letter or is just a standard email. Because I originally didnt think anything of it untill I read some posts about it. And because of all that speculation I just wanted to confirm if it is or not.

yes, it is

I live in Blacksburg. So you'd have an idea, that's where VT is located. :)

oh nice crystalclear! im like an hour from there!

Nice! If you live an hour away from Blacksburg, do you attend the SW VA Governor's School by any chance? Just out of curiosity, because I go there. It probably wouldn't be that coincidental though. :)

Got mine yesterday too, it looked more like a likely letter than the WM postcard that came a couple weeks ago. That one was really confusing.

Stats--
SAT:2310 CR:800 MA:730 WR: 780

GPA: 4.2
Rank: top 10%
EC: Varsity Indoor/Outdoor sprinter/pole vaulter, writing awards

In-state

no, but i do go to the Central va gov school!!

yea i never got the W&m one unfortunately, some of my friends got them and they are almost like an information postcard.

Great! And I guess since everyone's posting stats, I have mine on the following chance thread (it's pretty long by the way):

(The thread was a little outdated; my SAT CR was retaken and I got a 700, so I guess the superscore should now be 2260)

So, just to make things absolutely clear for me, if we get a likely letter then we are pretty much in? I was kind of worried because I got one "B" on my mid-term, but I was taking 9 AP/post-AP (duall enrollment) classes--8 if you don't count the one semester classes. Absolutely no unweighted ones. So I guess they should be able to forgive me right? And plus there is probably almost no one in the class who got an "A"--maybe one--it was such a hard class. I know I'm probably worrying too much, but I just wanted to make sure about everything so I can fully enjoy my letter and feel good.

Got one! South Jersey!

I got one today! Long Island.

Question: Why does UVA send out likely letters at this point instead of just notifiying people early, seeing as they won't be recieving anything between now and April that could changed their mind. Do they have an agreement with other schools to release results on a certain date or something? Just wondering.

What does the likely letter say? Sounds like east coasters got them - we're in CA. Hmmmm....

Got mine today. 1560/2290 SAT I, 760 US Hist, 750 Math. I'm on Long Island, NY.

jnrsmom, if you check previous posts in the thread, you will probably see what the letters are like. Basically they start off with something like "The Commitee on Admission has reviewed your applicaton and found it impressive. Your academic record, as you are probably aware..." and would encourage you to visit UVa and give the school serious consideration, etc.

Thanks crystalclear. This waiting is awful!

WOO! I just got one!!! makes me feel so good

I got one today. I feel confused, because so many other people out there applying to UVA seem more qualified than me. Congrats to all who got one!

SAT: 2080
SATII: M2: 770, Chem: 690
ACT: 34
GPA: 4.05 W, top 10%

hey i got one too. i wasn't sure if it was a likely or just another regular letter sent to everyone. i guess this offsets my rejection from psu shreyers honors... just a little.

first post...

3. There are times when mid-years arrive and show a drop in curriculum strength or grades that prompts us to change our decision.

so they haven't look at our mid-year grades yet? or do you think they have already since it's early march?

i think they have. and anyway I'm not worried about a mid year
