Do applicants to UNC get them?

Yes, applications to UNC receive likely letters. I think that applicants who applied during the second notification period should be receiving them around now. However, they are only sent out to a select few...4 students from my school were accepted in January and only one had received any such letter.

Hi, I think i received one of them, but im not sure... does it say something like "although we cannot officialy give out results yet, we are already impressed by your distinguished application..." then talks about truman scholars and stuff?

do transfers get likely letter?

anonymous: i got a letter that said that too, but it was really noncommittal...what do you think?

they're likelies. a bunch of kids at my school applied EA and four or five got them. i had to call all my friends that graduated in 07 and 08, because they'd told me they got a letter that wasn't an official acceptance but meant that they'd get in later. i read out my letter and it sounded just like yours and they all told me that was what they'd gotten too.

so congratulations!!!

I also got a letter like that. I'm kind of skeptical though, because as an OOS student, I didn't think I stood a chance.

i got one too and im hoping it's a likely!!!!

Yea it didn't sound that committal but it basically sounded like we had a place reserved for us at Carolina. Im also an OOS student, so i was also surprised.

same here 10char

I received one today as well! You're right though, it didn't sound committal, but I think it was a likely.

i was an OOS applicant for early action and didnt get one...

and i got in. its not like all hope is lost if you dont get one

"I write to thank you for your distinguished application to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Although our admissions committee will not complete its work until March, we have already been impressed by your achievements and your potential."

ace: thats exactly what mine said. i'm oos, and i thought for sure it was like a noncommittal way to say like "we think you're cool, we want you to go check us out" because at the end it says something along the lines of getting to know carolina and gives you a website.. blah blah. was it just an advertisement? i'm skeptical as well.

when i say advertisement i mean like... "get to know us more" stuff. i get those from a lot of places i've applied.

I confirmed with admissions, this is a likely letter.

So most likely we're accepted.
I got one today, and I was surprised that they sent out likely letters. How is UNC's financial aid if you're OOS?

^ wondering the same, i think its supposed to me 100% demonstrated need, so, almost like the ivies?

I didn't get one and I want in soooooooooo bad. How many people got one? Did anyone else on here get one?

I received a likely letter but no scholarship invite. Is it still possible to receive a scholarship?
