12momar, see our post earlier in this thread. Many admits do not get a postcard because they’re not reviewed early enough in our process (who gets read earlier is totally random).

W&M said: “Many admits do not get a postcard because they’re not reviewed early enough in our process (who gets read earlier is totally random).”

Do any admits who were reviewed early not get a postcard?

I assume you start reviewing the files that are done first, so people who got a letter very early on stating that their file was complete are probably already done. If so, does a lack of a letter mean denial?

Are acceptances all released at one time (other than the letters)?

I got my postcard today in Maryland! I’m so excited! Excellent touch W&M, this makes me really excited about the school and the whole cypher bit was very unique! Thank you!

TV - I think W&M Admissions will confirm that not receiving a postcard in no way means you will not be admitted. Remember W&M admits over 3000 students, so they cannot write a postcard for each one.

As far as acceptances being released, in the past Monroe Scholars have been sent out first, followed by the regular acceptances/waitlists/rejections a few days to a week later.

I don’t know how many postcards W&M usually sends (perhaps Admissions can comment on that, or perhaps not), but I would bet it is in the low hundreds (out of 3000+ acceptances).

Arg! I want one so badly (NY)! I really love the school!

I got the postcard too! William and Mary, this is a wonderful touch and has really put the school on my mind lately. Thank you.

TV4caster, we do review files as they are completed but far more become completed earlier than we can read immediately (we have 13,000+ applications and only 12 deans who read files). So even those who received early communication regarding completion of their file may not go completely through our review process earlier (again it’s totally random based on which files we pull from a drawer when).

There may be strong students who are admits who do not get a postcard. Maybe we’re waiting to see mid-year grades or awaiting informtion on an art submission or from our coaches. There will be students who get admitted in committee who do not get a postcard. Those who do not get a postcard should not panic. Not receiving a postcard in no way implies you’re not admitted. Only a small portion of those admitted will receive the postcard.

We do send scholarship notifications a few weeks ahead of our main decision release (first week of April). Aside from scholarship notifications, all decisions are released the same day.

For more on our likely communication, check out our latest Admit It! Blog ([W&M Blogs Likely Communication](http://blogs.wm.edu/2012/02/13/likely-communication/))

@W&M Admission: I’m just wondering, when will Murray Scholarship nominees be notified?

Cornfields, we actually posted about that in the top-level thread in this forum (the news from W&M Admission Thread). Most of those nominations were sent via email this week.

Just got the postcard today. So happy! So for anyone worried, clearly they’re still being sent.

@W&M Admission I applied for the Joint Degree Programme. Is there any way to find out before April if my likely postcard was about just W&M or the Programme? (Either way I’m thrilled. I loved it when I visited.)

Congrats to all the postcard recipients - and especially to born2dance94. I remember your earlier threads about W&M and I’ve been rooting for you!

@frazzled1 thanks so much! This was a great start to my school break!

Born2Dance, the likely postcard is in regard to your application to W&M. Final review for the Joint Degree Programme happens at the end of our process.

Thanks for the info!

D got the postcard today! To quote her- “dad, you’re just giddy aren’t you”… She was pretty excited too!

I got a postcard and was very excited. No one (my family and people at my school) seems to understand what a likely letter is so I’ve had to explain it a few times. Very excited!

lol got the postcard, thought it was just something w&m sent to everyone, glad its not.

Got my postcard a couple of days ago! I’m so honored and excited

Wonder if I should visit now or wait until April. Anyone know if William and Mary has admitted students days? Are they worth attending?

Admitted Student Day is April 14th this year. “Worth” attending? Well, we are going to it for the first time so hard to say. Friends who went last year said it was a very good day. It will not be son’s first or only visit, however. (He is an ED admit). I suppose the questions for you may center around how hard will it be for you to visit and if you will have ONLY one opportunity to visit to the College, should it be on Admitted Student Day. Not sure, but hopefully others will chime in with their thoughts.

W&M obviously puts its best foot forward for admitted students day. You can tour campus, attend information sessions, talk to current students, scan the student clubs, etc. It’s very well done, IMO.

here’s one link: [W&M Blogs Admitted Students’ Day: Get Pumped](http://blogs.wm.edu/2011/04/04/admitted-student’s-day-get-pumped/)

there’s other stuff on CC too if you search back to previous years
