(My CC Stats Profile)

There's nothing special at all. I think my essay was definitely the strongest piece of my application since I poured my heart and soul into it (Cheesy but true).

Oh, I also had an excellent interview and rec letters.

pandora you are amazing! good job

Thanks Pandora. It is easy to see why Yale gave you a likely letter.

Schroedinger... I didn't apply to Princeton because I'm looking to go into music and it doesn't have much of a music program. My parents are pushing me to go to Harvard because of legacy/proximity, but I've been hearing that Yale is more undergrad focused..

To those that have received their "likely letters".. congrats, but I'd like to know when/whether you have sent the mid-year report?

I see a common pattern with Pandora and TheSouthpaw16-both were involved in music at a significant level.

Congrats to everyone (not that im not really jealous or anything ;) )

When did you receive this notification?

music is definitely valued at yale

I was amazing at the recorder in 4th grade. Perhaps I should have pursued it to advanced levels?!?

excessive posting = not studying for world history test

haha 2o_o7, you had to learn the recorder as a child too??? in 3rd grade my whole class learned how to play the recorder...it was great, and it was the first and only time ive played an instrument (good times)

Indeed, playing the recorder was a rite of passage in music class. Not gonna lie, I was fairly amazing at it :) Too bad I can't play real instruments!

I'm quite different in that

A. I've only received a phone call from a Yale admissions officer, and it's been 1 week and I haven't received a letter.

B. I'm not as music oriented, granted I do have pedagogical diplomas from the Royal Conservatory of Music. I'm more science-oriented.

C. I'm international.

You can find my stats somewhere on CC... I hope this information helps to calm some of your nerves.

Did the people who got likely letters have their interviews done as well?

My college counselor told me last week that Yale had told her they were sending me a likely letter, but I still haven't gotten it. I was going to wait until I got the letter to start posting, but I just had to respond.

It does look like music has something to do with this - I sing in two choirs and am co-head of an a cappella group at my school. I didn't have an interview, though, so I don't think that's too much of a factor.

How many of you likelies are planning on Yale? Harvard and Princeton don't have both of the majors I'm considering, so I'm only really considering Stanford.

I haven't won any national awards, so I'm not really sure why I was chosen. My college counselor told me they "really liked my application," but I'm not sure what part specifically. Were the letters that you got personalized or form letters like the one posted here? (http://www.tdy-perdiem.com/rsi/yale1.htm)

I'm still trying to figure out how to work this thing, but if anyone wants my stats (they're not too exciting) I'll figure out how to make a stats page. I just want my letter!

undecided, did Yale call your counselor or the other way around? Yes, it sounds like music may be playing a key role for many of the likelies. Congrats to you.

Yale called my college counselor, I think, although the college counselors at my school regularly call the colleges we apply to, so it might have been the other way around.
