i dont know why we have to keep twisting on this, the fact I was pointing out is
it is harder to be recruited as a girl than a guy becoz there simply is less spots avalible, and the 3 main guys team coaches have much greater pull in terms of admissions..
is it possible for girls to get recruited? Yes, but you better come with at least close to the package they look for in regular students, unless you are just an amazing outlier..also, the less spot idea makes sense becoz most of the girls field hockey team are also th girls ice hockey team, so basically mostly the same people....

Not twisting a thing here. Just sharing my experience and asking for facts to support questionable opinions.

Another poorly written, off-the-cuff generalization without factual basis. And you wonder why I reply? Last I checked you can suit up no more than 20 players to play ice hockey on either a girls team or a boys team. You may call this twisting, but I'm really having a difficult time understanding your "facts". So how many spots do you see on Hotchkiss' boys ice hockey team and how many do you see on the girls ice hockey team?

The (probably misquoted) opinion of 1 adcom (or maybe the 3 coaches) as reported by a poster who doesn't seem to choose his words carefully when talking about the intellectual capabilities of athletes. I'll consider that source of information very carefully.

I think the same can be said about the boys. You greatly underestimate the intellectual capacity of your own school's male athletes.

Lots of reasons possible here. You are trying to find data that supports a very narrow-minded opinion. I cannot find the specific numbers, but if Hotchkiss is like any of the other co-ed boarding schools, there are more boys enrolled than girls. Traditionally, in the population as a whole, a higher percentage of boys participate in athletics than girls (not right or wrong). So with those numbers, girl athletes will have a greater chance of making 2 rosters than guys. And among ice hockey players, top level girls players are also more likely to participate (and excel in) a second sport because at the club level, girls do not have as many opportunities for as much of the calendar year as boys hockey players have. So they find other sports like field hockey to excel in. Good for the girls!
