Lillehei Heart Institute - Summer Research ($3000 stipend awarded)

Hi guys!

Due to the helpfulness of this site, I decided to share a program I found that seem to be a great experience!

It's called Lillehei Heart Institute - Summer Research Scholars Program, and they award scholars a $3000 stipend. It's on cardiovascular medicine. They do not provide meals or housing but they are available on campus and are not expensive (so you may as well use the stipend you receive haha). Just look up the program on google for more info on their website! :)

It is a great program, but admissions are very competitive, and include college students (not just high school students).

Well, there are no non-competitive programs for free… >.<

DS is interested. Did everyone stay on campus? I noticed that the program is 6/3-8/2. However, I looked up their campus housing information and its 10 week program starts on 6/15 and ends 8/23. How did you deal with the housing situation?

I do not think they provide housing (and do not think anyone who has posted so far on this forum has attended). My D applied partly because we live in the area, so she would not need to find housing.

I know that all the “free” programs are competitive. But many of them are only competitive with other high school students. When you put college students in the mix as well, it seems like it gets much more difficult because they are more likely to already have some relevant research experience, etc.

My daughter has applied to this internship for the summer of 2014. has anyone of you or your kids applied to this and can you tell me if they will notify you even if you are rejected? they were supposed to let us know by Friday 14th last week but we haven’t heard back from them - also, do you know if they notify you by email or mail? - thank you
