limit on number of units you can take?

If a school has a limit of 17 units per semester, does this include overlapping credit? For example, let’s say I have 4 classes at 3 units each, so 12 units. But one class has overlapping unit and gives credit for both general education and a minor requirement. Does this mean I’m technically getting 15 units that semester with four classes? Or is it still 12 so I could take a fifth class and still be within my unit limit?

It’s still 12 so you could take another class.
