Limit on Supplemental Essay

<p>Common App had a 7000 and odd character limit, and I wrote a lengthy essay on the person who influenced me the most.. And now I look at the preview of my final application,(was just reading through), and it mentions a 300 word limit... Am I screwed? :( My essay was def more than 500 words, but it fit into the place given in the supplement</p>

<p>And the worst part is, I actually tried extending my once 400 word essay cos it came upto only some 2000 characters and they had asked for 7900 or so...</p>

<p>i sincerely doubt they'll reject your application based on a word limit violation. It may annoy them a bit, though.</p>

<p>If it's a well-written essay, it shouldn't be annoying.
I'm sure word limits are suggested guidelines.
Most significant topics require a lot more words to elaborate on.</p>
