<p>I agree. To add to that, I would argue that before you let anybody else see your essay, you should be sure that you love your essay first and are very proud of it. Ask your close friends if you on paper sounds like you in reality. If you get it revised by too many people, it will sound like it was written by a committee.</p>
<p>who is a good person to look at an essay? this isn’t my question (I’m off to college in the fall) but others might wonder…</p>
<p>I had my parents look at mine and that was it. and yes, they gave some suggestions that I took. but neither of them had written admissions essays recently (having attended college in the 70s) so they were just looking for good writing, not trying to trick admissions folks or anything like that.</p>
<p>I agree with dchow. I only showed certain essays to my english teacher. Otherwise, I didn’t let anyone read them until they were finished. Then, I let my best friends read them. They helped me a little with a few of the more crazy supplements…by rating how crazy some of my ideas were. Except, I never threw out the really crazy ideas..and used them.</p>
