My school only allowed us to take one AP freshman year and sophomore year each. Now I’m a junior currently taking 2 APs (I didn’t pile on AP classes in my schedule because I wanted to focus on SATs, etc). However if I had been allowed to take more APs freshman/sophomore year I definitely would’ve taken more than 4 APs by now. Is there a way to let colleges know this?
Your HS will send a profile to the colleges that state which AP classes are offered and when the AP classes are available for the students. No explanation needed by you.
Okay thank you!
Colleges will know that the amount of APs is restricted. In my school, for example, we’re not allowed to take any APs until junior year, and even then we can only take a max of 2. And we still send a good number of students to top schools.
Ask your guidance counselor if your schedule is considered the highest level of rigorous on college apps. At a certain number of APs, you might have reachede the max that colleges consider, usually around 6-8. To elaborate, a college wouldn’t necessarily provide any extra benefit to a student that took 10 instead of 8.
