I’ve just been accepted, and OSU is my first choice. I’m fairly sure I will get into the Honors program and I hope to apply for Lincoln housing. Before I do that, can anyone tell me what the best type of roomplan is? I was interested in the one with about 8 roommates who are sectioned off into four rooms with two ppl each. Is it a good plan? Yes, no? Do people like Lincoln?

Any input, at all, would be greatly apprecriated!!

Lincoln is a nice choice, I lived there for two years. You share a nice amount of room and I like the location (near the RPAC, a bit quieter.)

Unless I'm thinking wrong... you don't really choose a room plan. The plan you mention is the normal one, and it's good, but getting it or not is based on luck. As a freshmen, there's a chance you'll end up in a quad of four people in a suite of 10.

I'm a freshman and I live in Lincoln right now and I really like it! I believe that MOST freshman in Lincoln, at least this year, are in quad rooms so the suite has 10 people. It really doesn't seem too bad though- if you feel crowded in your room, you can always go into the common area. All of my suitemates are sophomores, too, which is kind of nice because they can answer questions and they have lots of friends who are always over, so it's a pretty social place.

I had Taylor as my first choice and switched it on the last day to Lincoln, and still got it, although not in a double like I wanted. I think if you get your housing contract in well before the deadline, you have a pretty good chance of getting the dorm you want.

Also, be aware that I have heard that Lincoln will be under construction next year to turn the lower floors that are now offices into more rooms. I think they're still housing people in the upper floors, but the construction could be a little noisy/in the way. Not sure though- don't quote me on that.

Oh, I didn't know that your roomplan preferences weren't taken into account. Thanks for the info...I really hope I get lucky then!

They are taken into account, but almost everyone is going to ask for the 8 roommate/2 per room deal. Don't worry about it - it's a good plan and I would request it for Lincoln, but there's no guarantee.

There are instructions that will be e-mailed to you if you're in Honors on how to make sure you get into an Honors dorm. I don't know of any Honors kids who were turned away from an Honors living environment if they requested one.
