Lindz - Registration Question - Help!

Okay - remember how I "got lucky" with the wonderful 8 am labs for Fall? Well I got to register yesterday and I got a great schedule where I'm not the frst one in my dorm to getup every day - except for one little problem - I'm waitlisted for the 4 sections of my required Chem class that I can continue with my current prof. I have gotten some bruises and bumps getting used to this prof's teaching and testing methods - but I'm in the rhythm with this prof now and I really like it and def don't want to have to "start over" next semester with a new prof.

So far all the sections - regardless of prof - for this Chem class show only 25 seats each. I thought that was small compared to this semester's Chem class sizes - so I looked back to Fall 2006. Then each section of this class held 40 people. I seem to remember that when I registered for Fall at orientation, there were classes like this where they gradually opened the seats as the registration period progressed.

So assuming they open the remaining 15 seats in each section gradually - will I automatically drop into one of the new openings and off the waitlist? Or do I have to proactively do something to make this happen?

Thanks for any light you can throw on the situation!

I don't think the check-in period has started yet for the waitlist, so you'd automatically drop in.

Hey BigJ - so what's with the "check-in period"? I guess I just don't understand the process.

I'm also on the "hold list" for another class that I'd like to take - but its no biggie - its just an elective I think I'd like to take - what's that all about?

i think the check-in period is to make sure you're serious about taking the classes you're waitlisted for and not just taking up space.

usually the holdfile means that you're waiting until people in that major or a related major don't fill up the class. i think if you're still on it the first day of classes, that's when it opens up.
