Linguistic anthropology and chance

Does Stanford offer a doctorate program in Linguistic Anthro? I've been to the site, and am a bit confused. Thanks for any help.

Also, if anybody can help, I'd love to know if I have any chance of being admitted. I know Stanford has an excellent Anthropology department, and I'd love to even be considered. My "stats" can be found here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=117200 (Going to take SATs in spring).

Thanks for any help, and have a fantastic day!

OMFG!!! ANOTHER ANTHRO PERSON!!! WHAT WHAT!
Stanford DOES have an excellent anthro dept, mostly due to the fact that they have 2! Yes, Anthro, and cultural and social anthro. Double the fun.

P.S. I have never heard anybody refer to linguistics as linguistic anthropology. Is that a sub division of cultural and social or do you mean linguistics, one of the 4 components of anthro?

They do have a doctoral program in linguisitcs.

p.s. CHOMSKY WHAT WHAT!

Thanks for your reply Ashveer! I meant linguistics as one of the four components of anthro...I think. I assumed that it meant that it had its own doctorate program. The only thing I'm positive about is wanting to major in a linguist anthro-related program in which I can study dead/ancient language and its links with society, culture, etc.

Thanks!

"Chomsky what what"

what do you mean? i love chomsky yes, but how does he relate to stanford??? i thought he was mit...

He doesn't, but Hermione likes linguistics, and Chomsky is the father of modern linguistics, so yeah. I actually emailed him, and he (or his TA) emailed me back. Cheers for anthropologists!
