<p>I'm going to be a freshman this year, and I signed up for this course as a backup because I'm on the waitlist for Anthro 2AC.
Is this a course that freshmen can take? I remember anything below 100 is lower division.
Also, it says that it's taught by "The Staff." Does anybody know who might be teaching it in the fall?</p>

<p>I took Ling 55AC with Prof Wesley Leonard last semester and it was by far one of the best classes i have taken at berkeley. He is passionate and interesting and the GSIs were amazing too. I am pretty sure he is still teaching that course.</p>
<p>The class is centered around US languages and language policy though, so if that's not your thing than Anthro may be a broader class. </p>
<p>oh and you're fine as a freshman in that class; it's not upper div.</p>
<p>I've heard lots of good things about Ling 55--it's an interesting topic even for non-majors.</p>
