My List:
1) Brown ED (parent works here--does this matter?)
2) Yale
3) Cornell
4) NYU
5) Brandeis
6) BU
7) UMass-Amherst
8) UConn
9) Mizzou (double legacy)
10)URI (in-state)

URI, Mizzou as safeties, UConn, UMass, Bu, Brandies as high matches/matches, NYU, Cornell, Brown low/mid reaches. Yale High reach. Your stats are good, just the crazy competitive nature/ weird admission patterns of these schools. Good luck!

Brown - low reach if ED, good chance
Yale - reach
Cornell - reach
NYU - match
Brandeis - high match? Not familiar with.
BU - low match
Mass - low match
UConn,Mizz,URI - safeties

Wow, your really competitive. If you go on yale website it says they care about if you challenge yourself through high school. Btw are you a minority? Right now, Ivy League schools really want minorities especially minorities who come from a low income family. Apply! You never know until you apply. I’m going to add some more colleges that you should apply to: Princeton University, Stanford University,Georgetown, UPENN <<<<< all these schools are looking for students like us. Apply! I wish you the best! Common app starts next week! Good luck!

Good EC’s especially the study abroad. I think you have a good chance at the Ivies and the other top tier schools you listed. Some of them like UMass Amherst and UConn may even be safeties

Solid profile, for Brown ED and Ivies make sure you articulate your passion for language and what you would get involved in on campus. Maybe accumulate a few awards in language exams or get 800 in Latin to substantiate this. Make your essays good, and:

Brown ED match
Yale reach
Cornell high match/low reach
NYU match
Brandeis safety/match
BU safety

Yale’s a reach, but I don’t think I needed to say that. You’re in a very good spot for Cornell; the CollegeBoard site has a note from the college that says that “preparation and background for specific programs [are] especially important”, and it sounds like you’ve really prepared for linguistics. I’ve heard people say that getting into Cornell isn’t terribly hard but staying in is, but you sound like a pretty good student so that should only benefit you. Brandeis, NYU and BU are matches. Sorry, but I don’t know much about the rest!

In my opinion (linguistics is not really my area of expertise), with the exception of Yale/Brown/Cornell (high, mid, mid reach), most of the other schools should be matches. You seem like you’re well on your way though. Best of luck.

I would say you have a great chance at brown because of the parent Ed and competitive applicant. Yale is a reach Cornell is a low reach the rest are matches except bu is a low match and the last four are safeties. Good luck!

your ECs are really god assuming they are meaningful to you (which i can’t imagine are not) Even though your GPA is slightly low for some of the most competitive colleges, your minority status and everything else (coursework etc) should compensate. :D

Brown ED - low reach
Yale - reach
Cornell - low reach
NYU - match
Brandeis - match
BU - low match
Mizzou - safety
URI - idk but prob. safety
UConn - match
