Linguistics@Princeton?

Is it just me, or does Princeton not have a linguistics major? I could be looking at the wrong part of their site, but I dunno... @_@

^ yeah, you can take linguistics as a kind of minor, though.
i was disappointed that in order to take french i had to take italian too. :(

@_@ that's stupid, though I'm rather fond of Italian.

You don't have to take French and Italian at the same time just because they share a department. Of course you can take French or Italian alone, just as you can major in just French or just Italian.

trust me, you dont want to do linguistics

I have never studied Italian before, do they have a 'beginners' Italian class?

Thanks.

when i applied common app, linguistics was under "Certificate programs"

yeah, you can certificate in linguistics, and yes, there is an italian 101 class. and you can def just major in french or just in italian (my bf's a french (not italian) major), they just share a department.

"trust me, you dont want to do linguistics"

Why not?

(Sorry for the belated response ...)

Yeah, as for the combined language departments, you only major in one language or the other, and you don't have to take both languages, although the department gives you the option to take classes in both.

thanks. good to know i can take just french. :D
