<p>I'm a college freshman and I just made a LinkedIn. How can I display my location, but not an industry? It keeps sending me an error message - is there anyway to do that?</p>
<p>I'm interested in finance and consulting, but not sure what industry to put there. Right now I have it as Financial Services.</p>

<p>No, there isn’t. It says I’m a student anyways, but for this there are very specific industries.</p>
<p>I think you have to fill it out. I just use the spot to display what industry I’m interested that relates to my major. I’d keep it as Financial Services and if you see your interests change, you can just edit it to say Management Consulting later! I’ve changed mine over time.</p>
<p>@goldenbear - If I say, apply to consulting jobs, but my linkedin says financial services, would that be a negative?</p>
