How good is the team? I've looked at the record and the bios (that are listed) for all of their current players. But is it hard to try to become recruited for the team? etc.

Thanks a lot, everyone!

If you're even thinking about it, you're going to need a decent national ranking. Only a handful of people are going to get recruited each year, since the team is small. And, the team is a decent Div I program.

what about the football team, how hard are the tryouts and how hard is it to get on the team?

I'm hoping that was sarcasm...the football team is infamous for being bad. From Wikipedia:

The university's recent notoriety in sports, however, lies with its football team, which set an NCAA record of most consecutive football games without a win. After a losing 44 games, it broke the streak by beating Princeton at Columbia's homecoming game in 1988. Their dubious record was superseded by Prairie View A&M in the 1990s.

What about tennis though?

Columbia just hired a new coach for the football team who was UConn's coach last season, and UConn won some pretty impressive games last year, so Columbia's football team could improve relatively quickley.

Again, switching back to tennis. Thanks.

That doesn't mean some paraplegic can just show up and make the football team. Columbia is still a Division I (-AA) football team, albeit one of the weaker programs. They still manage to win a few games a year and be competitive in most of their others.

Tennis?

Thanks again.

"Scolding" people isn't going to help you get more responses.

You should know if you're good enough to play college tennis. How high are you ranked?

so is there like an official acceptance rate to the football team, or can someone give me an approximate. im not very good, but i hope to improve, so i would like to know how hard is it really to even get on the team. thanks

Do you play high school varsity football (or some other athletic sport that could be converted into football skills)? If not, you're not even going to have a chance at Columbia football.

I don't blame him for "scolding," if you guys wanted to talk about football, then start another thread. Starting a new discussion in another discussion is called thread-jacking, and I believe its against the rules. ;)

A-san, if you wanted to talk about thread-jacking, then start another thread.

I'm here looking to find the same answer espn000524 is looking for, unfortunately some are too "smart" to provide one. ;)

See post #2 of this thread.
