i need help in finding safties that actually fit the profile of the schools im looking at.
right now, im probably going to apply early to yale though i have not ruled out harvard or princeton.
now im going to assume that i will not get in.
so the rest of the list includes penn (too big for me though), columbia (though i want to get out of new york and i hate the core), and brown (too flexible), brandeis, nyu (but no campus) and jhu (too competitive?).
as you can see, i have problems with all these schools lol.
what im looking for- preferably on the east coast, within a few driving hours of ny but if absolutely necessary, ill travel. i want a smaller school, and i love the residential college system. im not big on greek life, i would like decent jewish life. i want a school that has a good science program but is also strong in the humanities. also, i dont want such a hardcore competitive school. i want it to have a campus and my ideal college town is cambridge.

wow, thats a lot of i wants. im a selfish person. please help...
:)

ainsley, as far as tufts goes, I think you just have to show them you have interest. next time you go to the Boston area to visit Harvard or Brandeis, visit the school and if you like it, you'll have ample material to use in your essay.

Just as an extra comment, I recently visited a few colleges in new england, and I can't articulate enough how important a visit is in determining how much you like a school. I was lukewarm about tufts till I visited, then I fell in love with it. Additionally, Brown used to be my first choice, but then after visiting, I realized how it didn't fit me at all.

Also, I don't know whether you're a girl or a guy, but Wellesley seems like it fits many of your criteria too. Maybe some of the other top LACs. you seem to be concentrating mostly on universities, but Amherst, Swarthmore, Wesleyan, Haverford, etc. sound like decent fits as well...

Yes, I'd look at Tufts, great in hard and social sciences.

You're correct with the Ivie's all have a substantial Jewish population, most ranging from 25-50% (Yale grad programs)

For LACs, I know Oberlin, Trinity, and Dickinson have are alos ones to consider, however, they're nowhere near NYC (maybe Trinity, but that's a drive)

Oh, and University of Maryland-College Park might be of interest

ohhhh the title
finally understands
no, but i did start a tigers? bulldogs? thread where i actually was referring to princeton v yale. haha i didnt even realize that i did that here also. just the first thing that entered my random and crazy mind. guess im just all about the mascot.
oh, and i am a girl but i dont really want to go to an all-girls school.
