List of AP's that most colleges DO GIVE CREDIT

What are some AP's that most colleges give credit for or at least acknowledge them enough to let you start at a advacned class?

Also... what are some AP's that most colleges do not give credit for?

I know most colleges do not give credit for Physics B.. and some other AP's.

Can anyone mention some of those here?

Credit:
Physics C
Chemistry
Calculus BC
European History
US History
English Lang/Lit.

No credit:
Human Geography
Statistics
US/Comp. Government
Environmental Science
Psychology

Speaking generally, of course.

Really? At my state school, I get credit for Stat, US Comp, and Psych (No Human Geo and No environ but that’s usually a given). And the other ones An0maly listed.

State schools and lower tier liberal arts schools tend to be more accepting of AP scores over 3 and even CLEP. Top colleges are more selective and allow placement for certain AP’s with scores of 4 & 5.

I have found this on most of the schools webites and on collegeboard.com

I think most schools give credit for foreign language APs.

Anyone know the policy on Econ tests?

I know for UVA, which is a pretty good school (#2 on the public uni list) gives credit for Econ. I think for every score you have to have a 4 or 5, and some it’s just straight 5.

Pretty tough stuff.

Psychology

No credit:
Human Geography
Physics C (they always want you to take their first-year physics)
US/Comp. Government
Environmental Science
Psychology

The Chemistry credit can be given, but if you’re using it for advanced placement in classes, it’ll be difficult though since you have to consult with head of the chemistry department.

In my case, I know I will have to take first semester of General Chemistry since I did not do enough labs in my AP Chem class.

CHEM, CALC, PHYSICS C (the calculus based one).

I’ve taken lots, and those are the only ones that offer higher placement… Others just count as elective credit (which is tihsllub).

A good deal of classes can be used to place into higher course, but not as credit.

I know that BYU gives credit for every AP exam

So why do they offer classes like Environmental
Science and Psychology if colleges wont take credit for them?

Assuming my Bio score doesn’t come through well, I’m planning on using Enviro at Tufts to get out of some of my science requirements.

^Do you happen to know if Tufts has good physics or math departments? I’m thinking of applying.

@letloose15: It’s different for every college. I got credit for a lot of the APs that people are saying most colleges don’t give credit for.

it really varies from school to school. Each school is different so thats why its important to do your own due diligence.
