I heard that their are some AP classes that were canceled many years ago. Like AP German lit or AP music listening are there some other canceled APs and why were they canceled(curiosity)

AP French Literature
AP Computer Science AB
AP Italian Language and Culture
AP Latin Literature

These were canceled rather recently because relatively few people take these tests and because CB was losing money creating, administering, and grading them.

I heard a long time ago that the College Board once offered AP Geology for only one year.

Haha, really? That sounds like a CC urban legend. They probably shifted it into APES, if anything.

I wonder how the original AP classses were like and what kind of students were in it

This is a really interesting thread. I wish they could give tests on different subjects though. The ones they give are either totally obvious or totally random.

What do you mean

That’s very interesting and isn’t there a scarcity of Latin,Chinese and Japaneese teachers yet they have AP classes for them too

^I don’t think there is a lack of teachers for any of those languages. Plus, Chinese and Japanese exams are a lot cheaper than all other exams since those two are administered on a computer. The only thing that needs to be shipped is a CD.

I mean that tests in subjects like Biology and English are obvious subjects that are thought of right away when someone mentions school, class, or subject. The other tests are in totally random areas like art and languages that sometimes will have no use to the majority of people in the future. I think it would be better if there was a rotation of subjects or something every couple of years.

My dad took AP Calculus III. Apparently there were only 3 people in his class and the collegeboard discontinued the exam after like 4 years.

Calculus 3 that sounds cool wish I could take it :P

I’m joking.

Lots of people major in languages. Thing is, is that there aren’t many jobs suitable for language majors (especially Latin, my teacher even went to Princeton).

Frankly, I think more specialized AP classes should introduced like AP Human Anatomy, AP Architecture, AP Accounting, etc. Most of these classes are already being offered in some way in many schools around the country. If anything, it’d just keep kids off the streets and hitting the books more.

I think that’s why people have ROP

LOL! AP geology would be awesome.

How weird!!! I bet human geography will accompany geology. Do any of your schools have it? I’ve only heard of self studiers

AP Geology would be so sick! I think it would be an awesome course to put back! if you understand Geology than it would be a great course to be in

They’re starting AP Russian language- finally! Took long enough
