List of Merit Scholarships (More Complete List)

Congratulations to those of you who applied to USC for the Class of 2016. Complete numbers have not been announced at this time, but those of us who volunteer here are guessing there were about 41-43 thousand seniors who applied to the university. That may even be under the number. Last year 23% were admitted and the GUESS is this year about 20-21% will be admitted. It is speculation at this point.

There will be thousands of seniors who will receive a letter of regret.

We have asked for patience as there are other scholarships to be awarded other than Mork, Stamps, Trustee and Presidential. All of those require an interview.

Keep in mind alumni, support organizations or friends of SC have donated funds for these scholarships.

Various schools at SC such as Marshall, Viterbi and Annenberg have scholarships for entering students awarded by that particular school. Some of these are endowed and others may be for one year only.

Hi georgia Girl! I have a quick question. I was just admitted but not given any information regarding scholarships. Does this mean that I will not be offered an interview for the trustee and presidential scholarships? Thanks

International Academic Scholarships------Number varies
One half tuition

Town & Gown----Number varies

Son invited for Presidential scholarship interview. I read from these forums that there were instances where students were “bumped up” to trustee or Mork afterwards. Can anyone share their experience or info on the criteria for the “bump”? We are very excited for the opportunity to attend the Explore USC event next month. Son is hoping he can do well to get bumped up. Thanks

Thank you!!!

question:
Are all these scholarships offered 4 years? Need to be reviewed every year once one is offered?

The Trustee, Presidential, NMF Presidential, Mork, and Deans are all 4 year scholarships. Many other scholarships, like ones offered by USC Schools, may also granted for 4 years. Some specific awards may need to be renewed.

There used to be conditions set that these top $$ academic merit scholars needed to satisfy to continue to receive their merit awards. In the past, the criteria included maintaining a 3.0 GPA and taking a minimum of 16 units/semester in order to graduate in 4 years (5 for BArch students).

I see the USC website no longer lists a minimum GPA standard and wonder if that means they have removed that specific condition. Anyone here know? Here’s the current website:

Madbean, the literature that was sent to us last year when DS was awarded the Presidential did not refer to a specific GPA either but said something like maintaining a “satisfactory GPA”. I will try to find it and post the exact wording.

madbean, Thank you
If I lost the chance to apply these scholarships, can I apply for next year after entering USC?

WantBrownBLME, sorry not for the top merit scholarships like Trustee, Mork, Presidential, Deans and International (plus the newly named full-tuition merit award I’m blanking on right now). Those are only for entering freshmen. There are, however, other scholarships that are available to returning students (soph-senior). Each School at USC has a list of such scholarships and they can be found on the School’s website. In addition, a continuing student may apply for Town & Gown and alumni scholarships.

Stamps Scholars-Full tuition and a $5,000 stipend…

The B.A.A Scholarship has been extended. So check that out! :] I am applying! Pray that I get it! Well first I hope I get into USC…

hi Must all scholarships be applied before 12/1 for new freshman?

My son won a scholarship a number of years ago (2003) not sure of the name, that was awarded by the financial aid people although we really didn’t need an aid. It was only $4,000 a year, but it was something and a nice surprise. It seems to be a secret and not listed anyplace.

WantBrown, see this link:

Some have later application dates.

OhioMom
Thank you very much
USC is the only one I have seen so far offer the merit scholarship
Do you know any others

Many schools do. Where have you applied?

Most are in the first 50 schools in the national ranking
[National University Rankings | Top National Universities | US News Best Colleges](http://colleges.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-colleges/rankings/national-universities/spp%2B50)

You have to check each school’s website for scholarship info. You can also call admissions or financial aid if you are unclear. Some schools require a separate application for scholarships. Some consider all applicants applying by a certain date.

Many of these are still to be awarded.
