<p>Is there a list of the actual National Merit Scholars for 2011 for each state? I'm looking for a list that shows state, school and name of the NMS.</p>

<p>I’m not sure if they’ve all been identified yet. I remember my newspaper listing them in June.</p>
<p>From d’s scholar letter, “On Wednesday, May 25, NMSC will release information about approximately 2500 college-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners to news media for public announcement. (This press release will be the third of four Merit Scholar announcements in 2011.) If we receive your acceptance by the reply deadline, your name, the city where you live, the name of your Scholarship, the name and location of your high school, and the probable career you report will be included in the announcement. Winners whose scholarship acceptances are received too late to be included in the May 25 news release will be announced by NMSQ in July.”</p>
<p>I did notice a press release in our paper for the corporate winners a while ago. So d’s announcement should be end of this month or June, and there will be a final release later in the summer. I wonder if NMSQ has a file of all winners they release when the entire program is done for this year.</p>
<p>Unfortunately, it depends upon the local newspaper. NMSC releases it to the press and then it becomes the responsibility of the local newspaper to decide if it is worth of publication or not. NMSC does not publish it like for example Siemens STS is published in USA Today on a certain date. </p>
<p>In our area, it was the local community based newspapers that published it, the big city wide newspaper did not (they would have to publish every winner in the city and suburbs). We did not even know my S’s name was published as it was not dropped off that week in our door (it was one of those free ones) till a friend called up and mentioned it.</p>
