Just wondering how accurate this list is

I would also like to know this. Is this list also accurate for the other sections?

CUNY is #19 for ChE? Can anyone verify this?

I can verify that CUNY is #19 for Chemical Engineering according to those rankings. However, these rankings are most likely very outdated and 10+ years old.

These rankings are 100% accurate. Just like EVERY OTHER ranking system for schools/programs. They are all 100% accurate based upon the ranking methodology they choose to use. Most of these rankings focus on graduate work and research quite extensively, which is often quite irrelevant to an undergraduate education. I do not know what criteria was used for this particular one.

^^ That’s exactly what I was thinking and it got me excited, haha.

I’d like to know if there are any lists for those two, actually, (Chemical E and Materials) that are up-to-date

Since it is national research council, you can only assume that it is based largely on research. What criteria they use is a mystery to me. There are some real head scratchers on there.

For example, while Princeton is a fine school, and has a good aerospace engineering department, I have never seen it placed as high as #4 in any other ranking system, especially above Michigan and Purdue. Also, Cornell is apparently a top 10 aerospace school despite the fact that they don’t actually have an aerospace engineering as an undergraduate degree, and even their graduate program isn’t usually placed in the top 10. CalTech also does not have an undergraduate program in aerospace. Basically, this only really applies to graduate school.

CUNY is a system of colleges. It does not specified which CUNY school. It could be CCNY, or the graduate center.

Actually our ChemE department has just added a few world-renowned scientists and engineers. For example, Sanjoy Banerjee(ChemE) and Masahiro Kawaji(Mechanical and Energy).

The quality of the CCNY ChemE department is very good, when you consider the size of the school and the funding. We are not MIT but we are very good.

Aside from that, if you are interested in the biomedical, our BME usually collaborates with the ChemE department.

Here is the list
