List of Top Computer Science Schools?

Does anyone happen to have a list of the top cs schools? I know CMU and MIT are pretty high up on the list, but does anyone have a list of the top 15 or so? Thanks :).

Stanford, UC Berkeley....

Yeah. Stanford is good.

I think Stanford, MIT, and CMU are known as the top CS schools. Here are the top 4 CS grad schools: http://www.usnews.com/usnews/edu/grad/rankings/phdsci/brief/com_brief.php

To the OP, are you interested in graduate schools or undergraduate schools? If you are interested in undergraduate schools, then I would say that you should also be looking at some of the undergraduate-only programs. Such as Harvey Mudd. Or Rose-Hulman.

I second the recommendation of Harvey Mudd.

Thanks guys,
I'm looking at undergrad schools at the moment.

I've heard Harvey Mudd was good too :). But I didn't know Stanford was that good :P.

Well, Stanford is at the heart of Silicon Valley and was instrumental in its creation. If Stanford had never been founded, there would probably be no Silicon Valley. Stanford graduates have gone on to found some of the most prominent computer companies in the world, like Google, Yahoo, Cisco, Sun, and HP.

Take a look at the University of Washington (the #9 school listed on post #4). It's right in Microsoft's backyard.

Be aware that you have to reapply to the CS department in your sophomore year and the program is quite competitive.

I think that's also how Berkeley works. Something like that, anyway.

University of Washington.. Amazon.com recruits heavily there..

You can avoid that problem by getting admitted into EECS as a freshman.

There is SOO little talk about UIUC....HOW!?! open ur internet explorer, clik on "help" then "about internet explorer" and read the TEXT:

"Based on NCSA Mosaic. NCSA Mosaic(TM); was developed at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign."

All big companies recruit comp sci majors at UIUC, microsoft, IBM every big company you can think of. Its a very selective program as well...

I would rate UIUC #4-5 in the nation before cornell, princeton etc... only MIT Stanford and CMU are "better" however at that level its better to chose whats best for you...

Thanks for the list!

I can't take much weight in that studentsreview webpage. They rank Michigan State 11 and Michigan 32? Upon going into the website, they claim the average ACT at MSU is 28.2, average SAT is 1330? In reality, the average ACT listed in all the books and on Princeton Review for MSU is 24 and average SAT is 1140..

Do they claim the average total, or the averages of the posters?

even though i got accepted at uiuc.... internet explorer sucks cough cough

Thats NOT the point...the point is the company that provides operating systems for 99% of the computers on the planet makes its "IE" @ UIUC and recruits heavily there...

Bottom line UIUC has an exelllent computer science program

And yes Internet Explorer sucks, MOZILLA FIREFOX!! (maybe Opera!!)
