List of Top Computer Science Schools?

Well, SebmaFSX_53, if you really want to go down that road, then you could say that what is even more important then the browser is the Internet itself. With no Internet, you have no browser (and conversely, the Internet existed for more than 2 decades before the browser was invented). While the precursors to packet switching were invented at MIT, the Internet itself started as the Arpanet on 4 university campuses - Stanford, UCLA, Utah, and UCSB. Does that mean we should all want to study at UCSB?

Look, we all agree that UIUC is a strong computer science school. I don't think anybody disputes that. But that doesn't make it right for everybody. I will submit that many people are better off at a LAC like Harvey Mudd than at a major research university.

UCSB has a really good comp sci program..lol

lol I'm honestly surprised to see Yale in these lists.

1) Stanford: the best of the best. no competition here.

2) Berkeley=MIT=CMU, significantly better than the schools below

3) Princeton, Cornell, UIUC, U of Washington, Texas, Wisconsin, Harvard

Thread resurrection much?

Packet switching was invented by Paul Barren, who was a UCLA graduate. The pioneers of packet switching are Paul Barren, Donald Davis, and Kleinrock ( MIT ph.d). When claiming MIT invented packet switching, you apparently ignored Paul Barren's contribution.

When talking about internet, no other university has made more contributions than Stanford, not even close. See below for Stanford's ties to the internet milestones:

1) Internet TCP/IP protocol was invented by Stanford prof Vinton Cerf, Bob Kahn, and Cerf's graduate students at Stanford.

2) Google search engine was invented by Stanford graduate students Larry Page and Sergey Brin.

3) Yahoo was founded by Stanford graduate students Young and Fillo.

4) CISCO was founded by Stanford graduates.

5) The multiprotocol internet router was invented by Stanford engineer Bill Yeager.

6) 56k Modem was invented by Stanford ph.d Brent Townshend.

7) DSL broad band internet connection was due to Stanford ph.d and prof John Cioffi.

8) Another dominate search engine, AltaVista, was invented by a Stanford Ph.D Paul, Flaherty.

9) The first SUN work station was invented by Stanford graduate student Andy Bechtosheim.

10) Ethernet was invented by a Stanford prof Bob Metcalf and graduate student Dave Boggs.

11) Stanford professor Jim Clark founded Netscape.

Yale was listed as #15, last on the list ... which, in CCland, equates to schools that you may ignore.

heres a list of grad schools i found - this time its the top 100 for comp sci
great resource

Where is the list??

oops i guess it didnt post..i lost it..lol..

UC Berkeley and Carnegie Mellon are swapped on most of the lists. Anybody have a personal opinion on which one is actually better?

Which colleges give Undergrad Major in Computer Science with Gaming?

We know USC and UCSC offer them.

how about UPenn’s computer science?

WPI offers a major in Interactive Media and Game Design - you can double major with Comp Sci.
