List of Top, Prestigious Awards

Um…btw. Presidential Scholar is one of the hardest awards to win. and colleges realize this

10 - Presidential Scholar
9 - D1 Athlete
8 - ISEF
7 - TASP
6 - National Merit
5 - Scholastic Art & Writing Competition
4- Biology/Chemistry Olympaids Semi/Finalist
3 - AP National Scholar
2-
1-
0 - Honor Roll

****Put Intel Science Awards up there, in either 8 or 7

That’s not very accurate…at least IMO.

I don’t think the Presidential Scholarship will have a big effect on the admissions process unless the scholar is waitlisted because the scholars are awarded after the admissions process, no? Getting it is still veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrry difficult though.

Essay contests are only 2? What if I won the grand prize for a national scholarship essay contest from thousands of contestants?

Where would winning first place in the largest student film festival in the country be. There were international submissions as well.

I think that this list has really gone downhill. I consider this, from page 12, to be more accurate:
10 - D1 athlete, IMO/IPHO/ICHO/IBO gold medals, Intel (top 10), Siemens National Winner/National Finalists, ISEF top 3 Grand Prize
9 - ISEF(1st places), Siemens Westinghouse (finalists), MOP, Intel Finalist, Presidential Scholar, Davidson Fellow
8 - TASP/RSI/NIH Research, USPhO/USChO/USABO/USAMO/USACO national finalist, Siemens Semi-finalists/ISEF(2-4 places), Intel semifinalist, Scholastic Writing and Art, Running your own successful business
7 - Perfect SAT scores, USPhO/USChO/USABO/USAMO/USACO semifinalist, Eagle Scout
6 - Selective summer programs or competitions, such as SSP, Clark Summer Program
5 - National Latin Convention 1st Places Academic Contests, All-Eastern/all-regional music, National Merit Finalist, National AP Scholar AFTER Junior Year
4- Perfect Score (Multiple Years) on National Latin Exam, or other languages, AP Scholar, some state awards (all-state music, etc), Science Olympiad state medals (depending on what state you’re from)
3 - All-County music, winning at local/regional science fairs
2 - Bank of America Awards, most local awards/trophies (art, music, community - although they will say something about your character), Essay Contests
1 - National Honor Society, Beta Club, School Departmental Awards, School Honor Roll
0 - Who’s Who, National Honor Roll

lol 10: Nobel Prize

winning regional/county science fair is on there, but what about state? Would that go into #4?

WHat about Girl Scouts Gold Award?

I assume that colleges recruit D1 athletes, but does anyone know if colleges, in particular Harvard, actively recruit someone who’s won an award in the 10 category? And if they so, how and when do they?

Aguynamedpoop, that’s a terrible list. It’s not accurate at all.

I agree with proletariat’s list. Except I think Who’s Who is like -1. Putting it on your app makes you look dumb.

oh yeah, and I don’t think Scholastic Art and Writing is an 8. At least… it isn’t correct relative to what it’s grouped with.

A national Art and Writing award is an eight, they’re like impossible to get. A regional key (which is probably what a previous poster was talking about “four or five kids” in their school getting) is more like a 4 or a 5.

oh right, sorry for the confusion.

what about cty or tip??

meaningless-you pay them, they take you.

I think Nat latin Exam should be lower
Alexander Hamilton National Citizenship Award (new program in 3rd year, choose 25 students in nation) #5? will eventually be higher i think in a couple years after it starts to really get noticed

Woah. If you get multiple perfect papers, that is an accomplishment. This year, only 2 people out of 135,000 who took the exam had 4 (consecutive?) perfect papers.
