List the reasons you dislike your current college

As transfer students, it is very important to have reasonable explanations about your transfer decisions and why you dislike you colleges, anyone give me advice how to state the reasons in smart ways?

it's a cc?

IMO......if you don't know you shouldn't be trying to transfer in the first place. If you have valid reasons, you should be able to articulate them appropriately in order to provide a case for yourself to the adcoms.

well many people want to go to a more prestigious school... but you can't really tell them that :P

My CC doesn't have upper division courses...is this true for other CC's too? I'm looking for classes like stochastics, financial institutions and markets, etc.

are you at vandy or do you want to go there

The social atmosphere.

The lack of academic rigor.

It's a glorified JUCO. No offense to JUCOs.

If you went to my college, you would want to transfer too.

No school spirit, no big time sports

Too small

It's a commuter school

Not in a college town

There's nothing to do here

No one has heard of it, outside of the bay area

I feel that I can get a better education at the schools I've applied to. My social life would be better almost anywhere else. I have plenty of friends, but the campus empties out on the weekends.

i always think the true reasons we wanna transfer are not wat the AO wanna hear tho, they make us lie sometimes.

I dont think so, vandyboy. The most successful transfers are probably those who have legitimate reasons, not just putting down what adcoms want to hear. They can probably tell the real reasons vs the "this is what they want to hear" reasons. Adding in that type of fluff certainly wont hurt you, but it can't make up your entire app.
Besides, if the college "makes" you lie, then is it really a good college for you?

I am from CT and in school in NC, I want to transfer closer to home. I hate getting on a plane to come home. Is this a terrible reason? Other than that I do like my school, I just like home more.

too big

curriculum isn't challenging enough

my area of study is totally overlooked at my current school...they're merging it with another department and didn't even notify us until January!

-I'm kind of in a strange situation as I have done well academically and socially here...but I can't justify staying at an expensive, private school if my degree might be worthless when I graduate.

Academics are not very competitive.
Not enough diversity.
Not many organizations.
Your major is not available at your current inst. (This is a really valid one!)
Not enough coke machines. (just kidding)

Here are some of the reasons I have for wanting to transfer:
- nicer campus (current university is in the middle of a city)
- smaller classes (one of the "largest" classes at this school is only about a third or quarter of the size of half of my current classes and equal in size to the rest)
- better professors- they actually want to teach and are enthusiastic about the material, while still explaining the material well
- from what i've seen and heard, students are better in class (no conversations in the back of the classes, focused on the class, not playing video games/laptops, attitude towards the classes, etc)

Also, I'm not sure whether it would be better to post this here, but I had a question for everyone who might have an answer along these lines.

As mentioned above, I have a number of reasons for wanting to transfer from my current school, but I was wondering what would be the best way to reflect or express these reasons in a personal statement/essay. Would it be better to do a "side-by-side" comparison of one school to the other and describe these various points I would like to make by comparing the two schools? Or would it be better to avoid mentioning my current school and only describe the reasons I like and would like to transfer to the other school as they are (even though I think this might be a bit harder to do)? Or some other format that anyone can think of? Or does it not make much/any difference?

Thanks in advance for any advice or suggestions.
