Listing an AP

I've seen the "chance" threads where there's a lot of credence given to AP classes and tests taken.

My D was in Honors Spanish 4 as a sophomore, for a variety of reasons that was her last year of Spanish in HS. Around the start of second semester that year, her teacher recommended she take the AP exam that May. She bought a book I think, and did review something about the structure of the exam but otherwise didn't do much to prepare. Ended up with a 3 on that. All her other APs have been 4s and 5s.

Two questions: should she leave any reference to the Spanish 3 off of her application materials since that's not really great? AND, not mentioning it in application materials won't preclude her from getting credit for the 3 if the school offers credit for 3s, right?

I wish she'd just stinking finish so I don't have to worry about this junk any more!!!

I see no harm in leaving it off because the course was not officially designated an AP course.

If it has been an official AP course, admissions officers might wonder why she did not submit an AP test score, but in this case, they won’t even be thinking about it.

^ I agree completely. And yes, not listing it on the app will not affect her ability to use it for credit or placement.
