Our daughter is a senior in high school and is currently taking 3 courses in high school that are classified as dual enrollment with various colleges. She will receive high school credit for these classes and they will be on her transcript, but we also have the option to pay and receive credits from the 3 different colleges. Depending on where it looks like she will wind up, we may pay for all, some or none of the 3 classes. Thus, if requested later by a college she’s applying to, we may or may not be able to produce a college transcript for these classes.
On the common app, she clearly would list them under Current or Most Recent Year Courses as Course level “dual enrollment”, but do these also go under the Colleges & Universities section? I would think that the intention of that section is not to have classes taken in high school listed there, but reading literally, it seems as if she could put them there.
If the high school transcript notes them as dual enrollment, I suppose she’ll get credit for that weighting when colleges recalculate her GPA. That’s really all that matters I guess.
