I am in two honor societies NAHS and NHS. Should I list them under honors/awards (I currently have all five spaces filled) or should I put them in activities? Thanks in advance!

It depends on how much you value them. If your other awards seems more important than NHS, definitely omit the honor societies. Remember, there are hundreds of thousands of NHS members; listing it won’t make you very special.

NHS is very common. I wouldn’t include it.

From the Common App site, “Since National Honor Society selection is done at the school level, you should designate it as a school honor.”

What if its a math honors society or a science honors society? Would it still be worth it?

Our D is considering listing both NHS and Spanish NHS as a single entry in the Honors/Awards section. She fulfills minimal service hour requirements for both of these at her school (maybe 10 each per semester), but to her they are primarily honorary, not service organizations. I think common app’s official recommendation is to put them in the honors/awards section.
