So for some interviews and even applications, they'll ask you to list the other colleges or university you are applying to. Is there any strategy behind responding to this?

I've often heard that you're supposed to only talk about schools that are of the same level or lower than the school in question. But then again, my friend has this book that says to talk about your reach schools.

How should I go about this?
Thanks

I was supposed to this for Grinnell(I ended up not needing to, because I got in elsewhere ED), but what I was told to do is A)not list all your schools if you have more than 5ish, and B)choose schools which are similar in nature to that school.

I.e for Grinnell, I was going to list Kenyon, Carleton, Wesleyan, and Colorado College.

Perhaps slightly off-topic, my son used the interview to explain to one of his top two choices that he did not apply ED anywhere. He wanted this school to know that it is at the top of his list even though he did not apply ED. Has anyone else thought of a more effective way to handle this?
