As a white person, is it wise to leave the race part of an application unchecked or just say caucasian?

bump...always kind of wondered this myself

I left all mine unchecked.
But I've always hated the idea of race being important in education. I figured if the colleges really wanted to know, they'd have to find out for themselves.

Nothing happens, it does not help you nor does it hurt you . You are just categorized as unknown/ declined to answer

Wouldn't it be the same as just saying caucasian? Since being caucasian doesn't hurt you, it just doesn't help right?

I just feel like knowing affirmative action, it would be a disadvantage to list yourself as caucasian.

I've been asking my counselor questions about this (not about putting down caucasian though, about putting down asian) and she said that the ethnicity box only makes a difference if you are a URM. Otherwise it doesn't help you, nor hurt you. So, just go ahead and put down caucasian it won't affect your admissions. Leaving the ethnicity box blank does not help your chances, nor hurt them either.
