Listing upcoming internships on resume?

If I have an internship lined up to begin in three weeks, can I list it on my resume with the anticipated start/end dates? I’m trying to submit most of my internship applications before heading back to college for the spring semester, and want to know if I can include this upcoming internship, because it’s pretty relevant to the summer internships I’m hoping to land.

Also, side note question: If I did a bit of job shadowing, is it worth listing on my resume? It’s a field I’m interested in, but that’s about my only experience with it.

Both are absolutely acceptable to include! The only reason NOT to include the upcoming internship would be if it wasn’t a sure thing (e.g., you applied but had not yet been offered the position), and it sounds like it is.

Even though the job shadowing is a small thing, it might put you ahead of a candidate that doesn’t have it. It demonstrates that you’re interested in the field and have taken steps to explore it.
