Literally just started looking into Stern. Chance while I get more info.

<p>NYU Stern. I have a feeling on what my odds are already but I want to compare results.</p>

<p>This Is Me.
Asian American.
New Jersey.
Public school, quite competitive, 20 APs offered.
Sends students to Ivies and top 10 colleges every year.
Class Rank: Reported in quintiles. Top quintile.
7 APs to be taken by senior year. That's the standard amount for top students (highest ever was 10 because of school system) This schedule is rigorous compared to what the school offers.</p>

<p>GPA: 3.66 UW
SAT: 1390/2120, 1540/2340
PSAT: 219. Commended likely.
SAT II Math II 790 US History 730 Chemistry 710
APs Chemistry 3 US History 5 Language 5</p>

<p>ECs (by senior year): </p>

<li><p>Marching Band, 4 years.
Soloist (10th, 11th), Section Leader (11th), Assistant Drum Major (11th), Vice President (12th), Drum Major (12th), over 1000 hours spent. (Drum major = conductor). Played alto and bari sax, won state and regional awards in USSBA as well as band awards.</p></li>
<li><p>Indoor Drumline, 2 years.
Learned marimba just for this. No leadership positions are offered in Drumline. Won state and regional awards here and band awards as well.</p></li>
<li><p>Other music.
Instruments I play: the four main saxophones (alto, tenor, soprano, baritone), marimba, guitar, bass, clarinet, used to play piano.</p></li>
<li><p>Tri-M Honor Society. 1.5 years.</p></li>
<li><p>UPenn Technician Work. 2 years (summers)
Did research at an environmental technician lab. Possible letter from a professor, who went to Yale.</p></li>
<li><p>UPenn Biomedical Academy. 1 summer
Summer program, learned about... sciencey stuff.</p></li>
<li><p>Virtua Hospital Volunteering. 1.5 years.

<li><p>Running.
Ran since 8th grade, began running in 5ks and other public events that promote a good cause. Might also do cross country or intermural basketball senior year (not to pad my app but for my own enjoyment)</p></li>
<li><p>Interact Club (3 years)
Vice President (11th). Charity events, school programs, etc.</p></li>
<li><p>Chinese school volunteering (2 year)
Former volunteer officer. Taught chess and how to speak English.</p></li>
<li><p>DECA (2 years)
Won regional and state awards in DECA events. Top 5 in regionals, Top 10 in states.</p></li>
<li><p>Writing.
NaNoWriMo (3 years), Online Text Based Roleplaying (4 years), attempting to enter some contests this year.</p></li>
<li><p>NHS. Yeah.</p></li>

<p>Recs: English and Chemistry. IDK how they'll go.
Essays: Eventually these essays will be beautiful. Assume they will be.
Major: Probably Finance if I even apply.</p>

<p>Obviously more science-EC oriented, but I know someone else with science-oriented ECs and got in Stern too.</p>

<p>Side note. Guess what. I mentioned on HSL of someone who disapproved Purdue - even engineering. Today he sees me check out Stern and he was like “NYU Stern? Ehhhhh. Wharton is better.”</p>

<p>GPA is a little low but test scores are really good. I think you’ll be fine.</p>

<p>If money isn’t a problem, youre good to go!! :slight_smile: wharton is better though. If money is a problem, you qualify for tons of scholarships! So either way, you’ll have no problems :slight_smile: (but of course this is my opinion i am in no way qualified)</p>
