Literature Test

If I got a 750 on my verbal portion of the SAT, how much studying do I need for the literature subject test?

I got 690 on CR but 740 on literature. Just prepare by reading up on the key terms of analyzing literature (you can get these online or from a prep book) and take some practice tests.

You don’t really need to know much terms. The best way to study is just getting the right practice tests and learning how to understand little pieces of literature they give you.

I got a 760 CR and got a lousy 650 on lit. Retook it in Nov, but doubt I’ll do any better. CR =/= Lit by any means. A friend of mine, with an 800 CR, got a 600 on it!

Thanks everyone.

I got an 800 CR on SAT I…670 on Lit SAT II. It was so much harder!

Update: I have a 760 verbal and now a whopping (yawn) 710 lit. Yeah, it’s hard.

^ 750 CR but 800 Lit…opposite XD

does lit count as a language?

I have 800s on both CR and Lit. Lit is very hard…prepare by doing the Kaplan tests and carefully reviewing EVERY answer explanation (at first).

Lit does not count as a language, I think. Language would be French, Spanish, Japanese, etc. that basically isn’t in English.

a 660 in lit isnt that bad its 68th percentile.

so even if you get a lower score your percentil will be all right so its all good

Language means Other than in English…

lolcats–Kaplans really help? Is the level of difficulty around the same as the actual test?

Does anyone know if PR is good for Literature? I was looking at one today and I tried answering some of the questions and I got most of them right so i was really surprised because I only skimmed the passages. Maybe PR is easier???

I got an 800 on CR twice (thrice if you count PSAT) but I got a 730 on Lit. I was getting 750-780 on the Kaplan practice tests, so I guess the curve in the book is a bit generous, or perhaps I just did worse. The practice tests are good though, much like the real thing.

The Kaplan tests were very similar to the real thing.

The one thing you have to keep in mind with the Lit test is that if you can’t understand one passage your score plummets.

thanks guys! I was going to get PR but I think I might get Kaplans now

I used PR, I scored consistent 750’s on the practice tests, but scored 720 on the actual test.
