Little brother's problem -- Signed up to take SAT, wants to take SAT II

Hey, so you may or may not remember me, but I was a lurker on this site last year, and posted a few questions about college admissions. (Cornell 16!!) :)

Anyways, my little brother (who didn't want to sign up for CC, for some reason, and wants his older brother to do his dirty work) is paranoid because he signed up for the SAT on June 2nd, but wanted to switch to take the World History Subject Test -- the problem being that it was too late when he found out he wanted to. He can't take the SAT, as he has job training from 1-5. He called the College Board, and they said that there was a chance that he could change it on the test day at the site, and take the subject test instead, but with no guarantee. They called it a "walk-in" or something. Has anyone ever been in a similar situation? How did it work out?

I took the SAT instead of the SAT II a while ago (the opposite of what he wants to do). Basically, he just has to go in as a walk-in student for whatever test he wants. Then, he’ll have to fill some form and pay a fee… and that’s pretty much it. Just make sure he goes to a centre that’s known for having empty seats. Oh, and tell him to leave earlier than usual. It’s a very simple and painless procedure.

I was in the exact same situation. Make sure that your little brother is about 30-45 minutes early (I was 45 minutes early, but I’d have been fine if I was 30 minutes early). Apparently, it’s first-come first-served. When your brother arrives at the testing center, have him go find an adult that is administrating the test and have him explain his predicament. For me, since I signed up online, they said that they would bill me online (so I didn’t need to bring a check). The SAT will charge you like $26 to switch to the SAT II.

If you are confused whatsoever, I’d just call the CollegeBoard
