Little help would be appreciated

I have applied to BU for fall 2014 and I am planning on majoring in journalism. I have a 4.3 GPA and a 32 ACT, president student government, captain varsity field hockey, tons of community service, employed by school district. I am hoping to get accepted but I need merit aid to go to BU. I have already applied for the Trustees scholarship. Are there any other BU scholarships I should be looking at? What are my chances of getting a large merit scholarship? I also spent a lot of time on my essays so I feel they are well written and represent who I am.

Make sure you file your Fafsa early and by the deadlines. Including the college profile app, it is separate from Fafsa. My D did not receive the trustee scholarship but received a sizable grant. All of the scholarships are on the financial aide page on the web. Even if you think your families income won’t qualify file for financial aide anyway. Private schools have more aide available than the state schools and higher income families attending so even if you wouldn’t qualify at your state school you may get aide money from a private school.
Over half of her tuition is covered by grant.

CSUS88… thanks for the advice. Is the college profile app, specific for BU?

Most private schools use CSS. Below is the link that shows you what schools use profile. Some also use IDOC which BU does as well. Once you file your FaFsa and profile they will send you the link to use IDOC. Bottom line one of my daughters classmates did not know she had to file all three and received no extra aide. Even though her family had less income than ours. BU worked with her family and allowed her to defer to spring admission to get everything in by those deadlines, but better to have it done on time. No guarantees for aide but definitely won’t get any aide if not in by deadlines for priority consideration. Read everything on the Financial Aide page

I hope this is helpful and good luck.
