Little known schools in Brooklyn?

Hey everybody

Does anyone know of any good schools in Brooklyn? I'm looking at schools in NY (NYU and Columbia) but really like Brooklyn and it would be nice to find a good place that's not in Manhattan. I'm looking at schools that are intellectually rigorous with a smart student body and good liberal arts program (I'm thinking I wanna be an English/comparative lit major). What schools would fit me???

In Brooklyn you have:
NYU Poly
Pratt Institute
St. Francis
Brooklyn College

Given what you want to study, that pretty much rules out the first one (and perhaps the second as well).

You could apply to the Macaulay Honors Program at Brooklyn College.

how is brooklyn college?

There is also the Brooklyn campus of Long Island University.

All these schools are decent, but honestly not on par with NYU or Columbia. If you really love NYU, and really love Brooklyn, you can always attend NYU while living in Brooklyn. It’s a pretty quick subway ride. Assuming you can afford it, of course.

What about Queens? St. John’s is not far from Brooklyn.

Not good, frankly.

But, if you can go for free, work hard, have fun, why not?

Brooklyn could be a pretty good option if you’re accepted into Macaulay. (just know macaulay applicants have high GPAs and their average CR+M SAT is 1400)
