hi, i really don't have any ec's that demonstrates passion, i done 3 yrs of model security which is like model un, one year of fbla, 1 year of unicef, and some other random stuff, but i 've been to china every other year during the summer i've been to china 3 times since my freshmen year, i do some english teaching here and there at schools, police stations etc. but none of my ec's have like number of hours, my volunteer stuff i really did in china but i didn't remember how many hours, my question is do u think that if i write good essays and have good sat scores, the ivys will let in? and do u guys think it's a good idea if i start 2 clubs this year, something that i've been really want to do.

At first I thought this title read that your extra cirricular activities were watching the television show, "Passions."

Emphasize political science; you know the culture and language of China well and have done various activities in policy and government.

Nobody really knows what is necessary and suffcient for Ivys. Don't worry. Just apply, have some safetys and relax.

oh, sorry about the title i meant "little to no ec's to show", but i'm going to try my best w/ just applying everywhere and hoping one of the ivy's take me, i'm really afraid

Haha, well first of all, screw the Ivies. Why does an Ivy have to take you? There are schools out there that are just as academically challenging and probably a better fit for you - all of the Ivies are different, don't just randomly apply to a bunch and hope you get in one. Because at the end of 4 yrs all you'll have is some stupid Harvard degree and a 3.6, which won't get you anywhere you couldn't have gotten with a 4.0 at a state university.

ANYWAYS, I digress. 1.) Don't have your hopes set on Ivies and 2.) Write good essays, good recs - make sure adcoms know who you are as a person and what you're about. Your ECs seemed very international. You seem like a cultural person. Go with whatever you feel defines you.

Don't be "scared" that Harvard will reject you. Harvard rejects 1,000s of kids every year who are probably happier to not be going there.

thanks for your advice but people on collegeconfidiential have always said to not talk about your ec's in ur essays, to say something different in the essays, how would i let them know that i did all that stuff in china
