Wondering if anyone has gone? It would cost $600 round trip plus the price of food. It lasts six days, in New York. Just wondering if it’s worth the money?
I don’t know as well, have results for you come out yet? I applied around 2 weeks ago, and I don’t know when to expect to get a acceptance/rejection notice.
@MiHe2018 honestly haven’t applied yet. I don’t think the app date is anytime soon.
@pinkbarbie sorry this is so late, I think it’s probs best to apply as soon as possible, I don’t think application time has closed yet but I know they wanted it by April 1. Btw if you don’t mind me asking, do you know how competitive this program is?
@MiHe2018 No I don’t, but since the program doesn’t cover transportation costs I don’t think it is extremely competitive, as it costs money.
@pinkbarbie oh okay, what do you think the chances are of getting a travel stipend from them if I explained extenuating circumstances? And also, did you end up applying? I got accepted but idk if I’ll go…
@MiHe2018 slim to none, but definitely try. Which one did you apply to? I can’t even find an app deadline on the website
@pinkbarbie I called, and they said that it’s rolling applications, and no set deadline, but that it would be preferable if before April 1. I applied to the business one. I encourage you to apply, I literally cut/pasted an essay from another app. And if you don’t mind, and if you do it’s perfectly ok, would you be okay letting me know your stats? I just kinda want to know how competitive this program is…
@MiHe2018 I think I will apply for the International Relations one soon. I don’t know what kind of info they want because I haven’t applied but here are my general stats:
Female, Hispanic, First gen, Independent student/low income
GPA: UW 4.0 and W 4.48
My SAT/PSAT scores are in the high 1200s, working on those
ECs
VP of Service Leadership (3 years)
NHS
Food bank volunteer
I’ve begun the process of starting a program for the homeless
Colorguard/winter guard (rifle captain, 2 years)
History Club (4 hours a week)
Girls State
I wouldn’t say this is going to be super competitive either way because highly qualified students are going for/were accepted into programs that are completely free and this one costs money. This is more of a backup for me, but I should probably apply now if I want to consider it one lol.
Hey Did you decide if you’re going? If so, Post or Brooklyn? And what program?
Hey! Im going to the healthcare program in brooklyn. how about you? also have you heard any info about the program recently? i havent, and my program is in two weeks…
i’m going to the healthcare program in brooklyn too!! did you get any info on your roommate or just general info yet? also does it start on the 16 or 17th? it says 16 on the website ans 17th on my travel confirmation email
I’m also going into the healthcare one at brooklyn… I’m mainly doing this as a resume builder for college but i haven’t really heard anything besides that dress code email… i emailed asking what time i should arrive there today though since I’m arriving by car
I haven’t received a dress code? Can you please quickly summarize it? i really don’t want to violate one of the dress codes
Email says: You will need shoes/athletic shoes, anything that is enclosed. No sandals, flip flops or open toes. They will be activities that require sitting on the floor, and working over mannequins so shorts, and t-shirt just make sure to bring overall comfortable clothes.
We also recommend layers (sweater/sweatshirts) since we not sure exactly what the weather will be like and our AC is on full blast ."
