living at home?

i'm considering usc as a spring admit and i really would love it there except... that i would have to live at home. i live around west l.a. and is only 20-30 minutes away, and for financial reasons, my parents prefer it if i lived at home. i definitely wanted the college experience at least the freshmen year- i feel like i'm missing out on A LOT of college experience by not living on campus. would i be able to feel like i'm a part of the school? could i stay socially-active? any thoughts/experiences?
if i'm missing the fall semester anyway, would living at home make much of a difference or would it be worth it to dorm at least for the spring semester?
thanks :)

i don't know your financial situation, so everything i say should be taken with a grain of salt, but i suggest you try to live on campus for teh spring semester, since coming in as a spring admit, you're going to want as many opportunities as possible to meet new people.

also, since your home is so close to usc, i suggest getting started with your sc social life fall semester. i don't know if you're into the party scene or not, but you should definitely try to go to as many football games as you can. it'll help you feel connected to the school.
