Living at Texas A&M

Can anyone please give me any insight as to places and dorms to look into living at in college stations? I have been accepted into a&m for the fall of 2012 and am going htere soon to look around. Id lilke to have and idea of which dorms are nice and which apartments are nice and closely located to the school.
Thanks!

As far as dorms go, you really have a division between the more studious south side and a bit more rowdy north side dorms. Any modular dorms for the most part are nice but if you prefer a more tranquil enviorement i would go with south side.

I lived on North Side for a year and didn’t like it too much. All of my friends who have lived on South Side LOVED it and made their friends there. The Commons is the place to be- trust me. I had a modular dorm [single bathroom] and thought that was very important at the time. I never became close to my roommate or anyone in my hall. In the Commons- you have your roommate and two suitemates to become close to. Also, people in the commons tend to be closer to those in their halls. Choose the Commons!!

Off-Campus & Close: Callaway House is great for freshman & Z-Islander is really fun and most people stay for more than just a year & the Cambridge is close to campus and has great apartments! Those are the few I would even consider off-campus that are freshman oriented, very upscale, and very close to campus.

And congrats on being accepted: I know it was very competitive this year!!
